The Mary Lyon Messenger was started in October 1954 as a weekly church newsletter. It was edited by Irmarie Jones, a Buckland resident and church member from 1950 until she moved to Greenfield in 1956. Irmarie was a well-known Greenfield Recorder correspondent. She was born February 26, 1924 in Erie, PA, she died in January 2022 in Greenfield. The Messenger offers a glimpse into what life was like in the 1950's within the circle of the church community and neighborhood.
In 2010, when the church published a collection of it's history, many issues of the Messenger were transcribed and included in that work. In Spring of 2024 we discovered more issues in an old file cabinet. The found issues have been incorporated to the 2010 transcriptions.
