The tenth annual “Summer Day on the Buckland Common” community fair will be held Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., rain or shine, on the historic Buckland Common, located at the corner of Upper and Cross Streets in Buckland Center. Admission and parking are free. The event provides an opportunity for families, friends, and neighbors to gather and celebrate what makes Buckland Center and our community so special. Visitors can enjoy the simple pleasures of life through lively conversation, good food, locally produced arts and crafts, and activities for all ages on the Common as well as at several other venues along Upper Street.

Festivities on the Common include games for kids, a sand-art table, and face painting, while adults have an opportunity to visit several vendor tents with offerings of arts, crafts, activities, and helpful information. Everyone can enjoy music with performances throughout the day by Buckland Fiddle Jam with Steve Howland, Brook Batteau and his Band, Wild Bill and Friends, the Curtis Rich Revue, and the Shelburne Falls Military Band.

The Friends of Robert Strong Woodward will also be on site with notecards and prints displaying the artwork of this renowned, local painter, who once lived on Upper Street. The Buckland Riders Snowmobile Club will return and provide information about membership and the trails they ride. The Buckland Fire Department will also join with their equipment and valuable fire safety information. The Recovery Project will be available to provide information about recovery from substance abuse. The Buckland Union Cemetery Association will offer information about end-of-life planning and green burials.

Enjoy a perfect July lunch of chili, baked beans, beverages, hot dogs, and burgers from grill, all prepared by the Mary Lyon Church. Visit the church’s tag sale and shop to your heart’s content.

Stop in to cool off at the Buckland Public Hall and enjoy artisan displays, including quilts and other offerings hand-crafted by the Monday Nighters Quilting Group. Arnie Purinton returns with his handcrafted miniatures of Buckland’s historic buildings and will be on hand to talk about them. Cyndie Stetson’s beautiful watercolors will be on display and for sale, and works from other local artisans will also be exhibited.

The Buckland Historical Museum will be open all day with a picture scavenger hunt for kids, tours of Historic Upper Street, and a woodworking demonstration. Enjoy a nice cuppa Joe in the morning and partake of their famous blueberry buckle with vanilla ice cream.
